A welcome development in the struggle against animal rights extremists

Major media outlets in the UK are reporting, this morning, that three European animal rights extremists (one in the UK and two in Holland) have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to blackmail individuals associated with biomedical research and/or testing. While details are still emerging, it appears that these arrests may be similar to those carried out two years ago, in that case:

five animal rights extremists were convicted over a campaign of blackmail and intimidation against a laboratory’s suppliers, in which they branded businessmen “paedophiles” and attacked their families.

These kinds of tactics are similar to those being used by US-based activists, including Camille Marino and other members of Negotiation is Over. Developments like this are welcome and will hopefully guide the responses to law enforcement in the United States as it seeks to confront extremism in our country, as well.
